Privacy Policy

HoneyBee (“HoneyBee,” “we,” “us”) is a community for discovering knitting and crochet patterns, saving them to collections, rating and reviewing them, and sharing photos of the projects you make. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using HoneyBee, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Account information. When you sign in with Google or a magic link, we receive your email address and, where you provide it, your name and profile picture. We store a profile (username, display name, avatar, and any bio you add).
  • Content you create.Patterns you save, collections you build, ratings and reviews you write, and photos of your finished projects (“makes”) that you choose to upload.
  • Designer information. If you apply to become a Worker Bee (designer), we collect the details you submit in your application and the patterns you claim.
  • Usage data. We collect analytics about how the site is used — pages viewed, patterns opened, and similar events — to understand and improve the product.
  • Technical data. Device, browser, and approximate location derived from your IP address, plus cookies and similar technologies needed to keep you signed in and to run the site.

How we use information

  • To provide and maintain your account and the features you use.
  • To personalize your experience, such as your feed and pattern recommendations.
  • To display content you choose to make public, such as your profile, reviews, and makes.
  • To understand usage, fix problems, and improve the site.
  • To communicate with you about your account, security, or important changes.
  • To protect HoneyBee, our users, and the public, and to comply with the law.

Service providers

We share information with vendors who process it on our behalf so we can run the service. These include hosting and database providers, content delivery and storage, authentication, and product analytics. These providers may process data in the United States and are permitted to use it only to provide services to us.

We do not sell your personal information.

Patterns and external links

HoneyBee links to patterns hosted on other websites. When you follow a link to an original source or a third-party site, that site’s own privacy policy governs your activity there. We are not responsible for the practices of sites we link to.

Your choices and rights

  • You can edit your profile and the content you post at any time from your account.
  • You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or deletion of your account, by contacting us at the email below.
  • You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information, except where we need to keep it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

Children

HoneyBee is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Significant changes may be communicated through the site.
